Info on Ankylosing spondylitis
Ankylosing spondylitis is characterised by chronic inflammation of the spine which leads to pain and stiffness. It may also result in the fusion of newly developed bones which in turn, generates a condition in which the vertebrae is cemented together completely. Spondylitis ayurvedic treatment is known to be very effective and Ayurvedic practitioners prescribe various therapies like oil massage, kati vasti etc, according to the severity of the disease and the body type of the patient. Intake of some herbal medicines, diet control etc too are part of the treatment.
There are some commonly available natural herbs used in the treatment of Ankylosing spondylitis and they include ginger, thyme, Chinese cabbage, basil etc. Kiwi fruit, papaya, pineapple etc too seem to help alleviate the inflammation. Ginger contains a proteolytic enzyme which has anti inflammatory properties. It helps control the autoimmune diseases; hence it is a major ingredient in the drugs prescribed for Ankylosing spondylitis patients. The patients are also asked to take green leafy vegetables as part of the treatment. A pure vegetarian diet is good for the patients as it helps alleviate the pain and inflammation. Eucalyptus oil can be applied on the affected body part, after consulting an Ayurvedic practitioner. The oil increases the blood flow to the area, providing relief from the pain.
